- Q: What is moderate and vigorous physical activity?
Examples of moderate-intensity physical activity include brisk walking, yoga, and biking on a level surface. Examples of vigorous-intensity physical activity include running, treadmill, elliptical, jogging, crossfit, swimming, and playing competitive sports.
You can track indoor activities using the app, and do not need to purchase additional equipment to track these activities.
- Q: Can I manually enter all of my workouts on the website?
No. Only 2 manual entry workouts will count towards the requirement each month - the rest must be recorded in real time by the Move. app or compatible tracking device, such as Fitbit, BodyMedia, or Garmin products.
A manual entry is when you enter the information of a workout after the fact. A manual entry is self-reported and not recorded in real time using a verifiable tracking device. There is a “manual entry” option on the app, and on the website you can add a workout under “Workouts.” You are allowed 2 manual entries each month to count toward the 12 active days goal.
- Q: Do the 12 30-minute activities have to be completed on 12 separate days?
Yes, the 12 30-minute activities must be completed on 12 different days of the month. If you complete a workout longer than 30 minutes, or more than one 30-minute workout on the same day it will not count as more than one active day.
- Q: What is the cost of the program?
There is no cost to download the Be Colorado Move. app. If you download and use the app to record your activity you do not need to purchase any additional tracking devices or monitors in order to participate in the program. The app can record both indoor and outdoor activities, and a heart rate monitor is not required to participate.
If you do not have an iPhone, Android phone, iPad, or iPod Touch that supports the app you can purchase a compatible product to sync with the Move. website. Fitbit offers three different devices (for more info click here) and prices range from $59.95 to $99.95. Body Media offers two devices (for more info click here) and prices range from $119 - $149. Garmin also has a variety of physical activity tracking devices (for more info click here). Your Garmin device must be able to export .gpx and .tcx files that can then be imported to the Move. website. These products can be purchased at a variety of retail stores or online sites, including Amazon, Target, REI, and Best Buy.
Only two manual entry workouts will count towards the 12 times requirement each month - the rest have to be tracked by the app or other tracking device.
- Q: I do not have an iPhone, Android phone, iPad, or iPod touch. Can I still participate?
f you have an existing device such as a Fitbit, Garmin, or Body Media arm band you can sync your accounts and import your data to the Be Colorado Move. website. Click here for instructions on how to link your device and import your workouts to the Move. website.
Only two manual entry, self-reported workouts will count towards the 12 active days requirement each month - the rest have to be tracked by the app or other tracking device. Therefore you cannot solely enter your workouts on the Move. website. If you do not already have a compatible device you can purchase a physical activity tracking device from Fitbit, Body Media, or Garmin and import your physical activity data to the Be Colorado Move. website.
We understand that not all employees will have an Android, iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad, and that purchasing a device may seem costly for some. As a participant in the program, you could earn up to $300 a year (subject to tax) and the physical activity tracking devices listed above provide an excellent way for you to track your health progress. We view this as an investment in your personal health. Many incentivized employer movement programs require gym membership for participation, which can be much more costly.
In researching and designing the program, we wanted to make it as accessible as possible, and we found that using the online system would work the best for cost and to verify participation. If you have additional concerns please contact us at [email protected].
- Q: What is a Fitbit or Body Media device and how does it work with the Move. program?
Both Fitbit and Body Media products are all-day physical activity trackers that measure your steps, distance traveled, calories burned, and more. If you are using a Fitbit or Body Media device there are two ways you can meet the program requirement:
- You complete a minimum of 30 minutes of moderate and/or vigorous physical activity, as measured by Fitbit as “Fairly Active” and “Very Active” and Body Media as “Moderate” or “Vigorous” 12 days a month OR
- You complete 10,000 steps a day, 12 days a month
You may earn the incentive payment through a combination of days in which you complete 10,000 steps and days in which you complete a minimum of 30 minutes of moderate and/or vigorous physical activity. If you do both of these in the same day it will not double-count.
- Q: How do I get the Be Colorado Move. app on my iPhone or Android phone, or iPod touch?

- Q: Can I use the Be Colorado Move. app to track indoor activities?
Yes, you are able to use the app to track all indoor activities including treadmill, elliptical, swimming, stationary bike, weight lifting, zumba, yoga, kickboxing, crossfit, etc. The app is not a pedometer, but rather utilizes GPS to determine your distance, pace, etc. If you work out indoors, the app will GPS stamp your location, record the duration of your activity, and estimate calories burned based on the type and duration of your workout and your height/weight/age information if you entered it into your profile. You do not have to have your phone attached to your body; you can store it in a locker/off to the side while you’re completing an indoor activity such as swimming. You can enter additional details about your workout, such as distance, on the becolorado.digifit.com website. You do not need to purchase a heart rate monitor or any other device for indoor activities as long as you use the app.
There are a variety of workout options listed under “Other.” You can create your own category under “Other” as well. To do so, select the “Other” category and press “Workouts” and if you have an iPhone press “Outdoor* Other” (if Android press “Launch Other”). You will see a list of activities, and at the top of the list it will say “Add an activity type” – you can enter the name of your activity (zumba, kickboxing, swimming, etc).
If you exercise outdoors the app will utilize your phone’s GPS and will track your distance, speed, pace, calories burned, elevation ascent/descent, and will provide you with a map of your route and graphs of your elevation and pace.
*When exercising indoors on the iPhone app, select your workout category and either choose “Quickstart” or “Workouts” --> “Outdoor Other” to ensure that the app acquires the GPS sensor to mark your location.
- Q: How do I keep track of my progress towards the goal?
You can track your progress towards the goal on the becolorado.digifit.com website – there will be a progress bar on the Dashboard and Calendar sections, and the Calendar will display a yellow ribbon on each day you complete a qualifying activity. Additionally, every time you Sync your workouts from the app to the website the progress bar will pop up on your app, indicating your progress towards meeting the goal.
If you do not see the progress bar on your app or on the Move. website, sign on at becolorado.digifit.com and click on "Groups." Your employer's name should pop up. If you do not see your employer group, click on "Join Move Program" in the navigation bar in order to officially enroll in the program.
- Q: Does the app use data?
The app does not use data while in use, the only time the app uses data is when you Sync your activity to the Move. website. You can wait to Sync your workouts until you are on a WiFi network so that you do not have to use data.
- Q: I am having difficulty obtaining the GPS signal indoors, what can I do?
You can launch the workout as you are walking into the gym/fitness facility and press “Start” once you are inside and ready start the class/workout. Select your workout category and press “Workouts.” If you have an Android press “Launch” and for iPhone choose “Outdoor.” The app will acquire the GPS signal and you can wait to press the “Start” [removed] and begin recording until you’re inside. This way the app will acquire the GPS signal quickly all you have to do is press “Start” once you’re inside.
- Q: Can I delete my work outs after the month is over?
No, you should not delete your workouts after the month is over. Reports are compiled quarterly and it would impact the report and you might miss out on earning the incentive.
- Q: How will I receive the money I earned if I meet the monthly requirement?
You will receive a quarterly payment in your paycheck for the incentive money earned during the previous quarter (up to $75 a quarter). This payment is subject to tax. Incentives earned for April-June will be paid in August. Incentives earned for July-September will be paid in November. Incentives earned for October-December will be paid in February. Incentives earned for January-March will be paid in May.
- Q: Where can I find the Participant Agreement?
The Participant Agreement for the Move. program can be found here.
- Q: Who will have access to my data?
The physical activity data that you upload to Digifit is completely private and confidential. Each quarter Digifit will provide a list of participants that indicates whether each participant met or did not meet the monthly requirement in a Yes/No format. This information is required for payment. Your employer will not see anyone’s private health information. This would violate the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), a Federal law. Your employer will only receive de-identified, aggregate reports.
