FAQ's

Q: What is the Be Colorado Move. program?
A:

Be Colorado Move. is a program designed to encourage increased movement and physical activity. Participants can earn $25 a month if they complete moderate to vigorous physical activity a minimum of 30 minutes, 12 days a month.

Q: Who is eligible for the Be Colorado Move. program?
A:

University of Colorado, University of Colorado Health, and University Physicians, Inc. employees and retirees who are the primary member of a CU Health Plan (Exclusive, Kaiser, High Deductible, Access Network) are eligible. Once your medical insurance enrollment is processed (typically occurs on the 15th of the month in which your paperwork is submitted), you will then be marked as eligible to receive Move. payments.

Dependent spouses, including dependent spouses who are also employees of the University of Colorado, University of Colorado Health, and University Physicians, Inc., and dependent children are not eligible at this time.

Q: What are the requirements of the program?
A:

In order to receive payment of incentive earned you must meet the following requirements:

  1. Complete the SUCCEED Health Assessment
  2. Track your physical activity using the Be Colorado Move. app, or compatible Fitbit, BodyMedia,* or Garmin device. Complete a minimum of 30 minutes of moderate to vigorous physical activity on 12 days each month.**  Only 2 manual entry workouts will count towards the requirement each month - the rest have to be tracked by the app or other tracking device.

*If using a Fitbit or Body Media device, you may also meet the requirement by completing 10,000 steps a day, 12 times a month.

**The daily 30 minute requirement may be accumulated through a minimum of 10 minute increments over the course of each day.

To enroll, visit the becolorado.digifit.com website and click “Sign Up.” Enter your last name, Employee ID, e-mail address (this becomes your username) and password. After you complete enrollment you will have to connect your Fitbit or Body Media device under the Health tab, or import your data from Garmin under the Workouts tab.

Q: Is there a deadline to register?
A:

There is no deadline to register; you can sign up at any time. You must complete the SUCCEED Health Assessment in order to be eligible to receive the $25 incentive.

Q: What is moderate and vigorous physical activity?
A:

Examples of moderate-intensity physical activity include brisk walking, yoga, and biking on a level surface. Examples of vigorous-intensity physical activity include running, treadmill, elliptical, jogging, crossfit, swimming, and playing competitive sports.

You can track indoor activities using the app, and do not need to purchase additional equipment to track these activities.

Q: Can I manually enter all of my workouts on the website?
A:

No. Only 2 manual entry workouts will count towards the requirement each month - the rest must be recorded in real time by the Move. app or compatible tracking device, such as Fitbit, BodyMedia, or Garmin products.

A manual entry is when you enter the information of a workout after the fact. A manual entry is self-reported and not recorded in real time using a verifiable tracking device. There is a “manual entry” option on the app, and on the website you can add a workout under “Workouts.” You are allowed 2 manual entries each month to count toward the 12 active days goal.

Q: Do the 12 30-minute activities have to be completed on 12 separate days?
A:

Yes, the 12 30-minute activities must be completed on 12 different days of the month. If you complete a workout longer than 30 minutes, or more than one 30-minute workout on the same day it will not count as more than one Active Day.

Q: What is the cost of the program?
A:

There is no cost to download the Be Colorado Move. app. If you download and use the app to record your activity you do not need to purchase any additional tracking devices or monitors in order to participate in the program. The app can record both indoor and outdoor activities, and a heart rate monitor is not required to participate.

If you do not have an iPhone, Android phone, iPad, iPad minin, or iPod Touch that supports the app you can purchase a compatible product to sync with the Move. website. Fitbit offers four different devices and prices range from $59.95 to $129.95. Body Media offers two devices and prices range from $99 - $119 (plus monthly online activity manager fee). Garmin also has a variety of physical activity tracking devices. Your Garmin device must be able to export .gpx and .tcx files that can then be imported or synced to the Move. website. These products can be purchased at a variety of retail stores or online sites, including Amazon, Target, REI, and Best Buy.

Only two manual entry workouts will count towards the 12 times requirement each month - the rest have to be tracked by the app or other tracking device.

Q: I do not have an iPhone, Android phone, iPad, or iPod touch. Can I still participate?
A:

If you have an existing device such as a Fitbit, Garmin, or Body Media arm band you can sync your accounts and import your data to the Be Colorado Move. website. Click here for instructions on how to link your device and import your workouts to the Move. website.

Only two self-reported manual entry workouts will count towards the 12 Active Days requirement each month - the rest have to be tracked by the app or other tracking device. Therefore you cannot solely enter your workouts on the Move. website. If you do not already have a compatible device you can purchase a physical activity tracking device from Fitbit, Body Media, or Garmin and import your physical activity data to the Be Colorado Move. website.

Q: What is a Fitbit or Body Media device and how does it work with the Move. program?
A:

Both Fitbit and Body Media products are all-day physical activity trackers that measure your steps, distance traveled, calories burned, and more. If you are using a Fitbit or Body Media device there are two ways you can meet the program requirement:

  • You complete a minimum of 30 minutes of moderate and/or vigorous physical activity, as measured by Fitbit as “Fairly Active” and “Very Active” and Body Media as “Moderate” or “Vigorous” 12 days a month OR
  • You complete 10,000 steps a day, 12 days a month

You may earn the incentive payment through a combination of days in which you complete 10,000 steps and days in which you complete a minimum of 30 minutes of moderate and/or vigorous physical activity. If you do both of these in the same day it will not double-count.

Q: Some of my Fitbit data is missing on the Move. website - how can I fix this?
A:

If you are not seeing your most recent Fitbit data, or if the data is inconsistent on the Move. website, you must refresh your cache. To do so, sign in at becolorado.digifit.com and go to “Health” then click “Activity.” You’ll see a graph of your Fitbit data. At the bottom of the graph there is a tab that says “Options” with two downwards pointing arrows. Click on Options and a box will drop down – in the bottom right corner click the [removed] that says “Refresh Cache.”

Refreshing your cache should clear up any inconsistencies in data. It should also update the yellow ribbons on the Calendar and the progress bar on your Calendar and Dashboard accordingly.

As a Fitbit user it is important to log into the Move. website regularly to check your progress and make sure that your data is transferring over correctly.

Q: How do I get the Be Colorado Move. app on my iPhone or Android phone, or iPod touch?
A:

Download the Be Colorado Move. app from your iTunes or Google Play store – it’s free!

Once you download the app, create an account by entering an e-mail address (username) and password. Then, you must log in at becolorado.digifit.com with your app username and password, click “Groups” in the top navigation bar, then click “Join Move Program” in order to officially enroll.

Q: How do I use the Be Colorado Move. app to track my activity?
A:

You have to turn on the app, select your workout category, and record your activity while you are doing it. For a guide on how to use the app to track your activity, Android users click here and iPhone/Apple users click here.

Q: Can I use the Be Colorado Move. app to track indoor activities?
A:

Yes! You are able to use the Be Colorado Move. app to track all indoor activities including treadmill, elliptical, swimming, stationary bike, weight lifting, zumba, yoga, kickboxing, crossfit, etc. The app is not a pedometer, but rather utilizes GPS to determine your distance, pace, etc. If you work out indoors, the app will GPS stamp your location, record the duration of your activity, and estimate calories burned based on the type and duration of your workout and your height/weight/age information if you entered it into your profile. You do not have to have your phone attached to your body; you can store it in a locker/off to the side while you’re completing an indoor activity such as swimming. You can enter additional details about your workout, such as distance, on the becolorado.digifit.com website. You do not need to purchase a heart rate monitor or any other device for indoor activities as long as you use the app to record your activity.

There are a variety of workout options listed under “Other.” You can even create your own category under “Other” as well. To do so, select the “Other” category and press “Workouts.” If you have an iPhone press “Indoor Other” (if Android press “Launch Other”). You will see a list of activities, and at the top of the list it will say “Add an activity type” – you can enter the name of your activity (zumba, kickboxing, swimming, etc).

If you exercise outdoors the app will utilize your phone’s GPS and will track your distance, speed, pace, calories burned, elevation ascent/descent, and will provide you with a map of your route and graphs of your elevation and pace.

Q: How do I keep track of my progress towards the goal?
A:

Every time you Sync your workouts from the app to the website a progress bar will pop up on your app, indicating your progress towards meeting the 12 Active Days goal. You can also track your progress on the becolorado.digifit.com website – there will be an Active Days progress bar on the Dashboard and Calendar sections, and the Calendar will display a yellow ribbon on each day you complete a qualifying activity.

If you see a "Join Now" screen when you Sync, and do not see the progress bar on your app or on the Move. website, log in at becolorado.digifit.com with your app username and password and click on "Groups."  Click on "Join Move Program" in the navigation bar, and enter your last name and employee ID in order to complete enroll in the program.

Q: Does the app use data?
A:

The app does not use data while in use. The only time the app uses data is when you Sync your activity to the Move. website. You can wait to Sync your workouts until you are on a WiFi network so that you do not have to use data. Data used while Syncing is insignificant and should not impact your data plan.

Q: Can I delete my work outs after the month is over?
A:

No, you should not delete your workouts after the month is over. Reports are compiled quarterly and it would impact the report and you might miss out on earning the incentive.

Q: How will I receive the money I earned if I meet the monthly requirement?
A:

You will receive a quarterly payment in your paycheck for the incentive money earned during the previous quarter (up to $75 a quarter). This payment is subject to tax.

The payment schedule is as follows:
August payment: Incentives earned for April-June
November payment: Incentives earned for July-September
February payment: Incentives earned for October-December
May payment: Incentives earned for January-March

Q: Where can I find the Participant Agreement?
A:

The Participant Agreement for the Move. program can be found here.

Q: Will my employer have access to my physical activity data?
A:

Your employer will not have access to your physical activity data. Each quarter the vendor, Digifit, will provide a list of participants that indicates whether each participant met or did not meet the monthly requirement in a Yes/No format. This information is required for payment. Your employer will not see anyone’s private health information. This would violate the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), a Federal law.
